Truly Secular and Logical!

I was thinking about this, should I say had been thinking on this for years now; the thoughts came as little bursts of imagination and then faded away.
The thought in question is- every time a terrorist attack happens, most of us end up blaming the Muslim community in general. Agreed, most of the terrorists are Muslims but not all Muslims are terrorists.
As I write this, let me just clarify that I am no pseudo secular person, rather I am not secular or pseudo or specific secular; I am someone who thinks and writes and totally respects the feelings of people who get offended since it is their birth right.
Anyway, coming back to the point, I write this piece for the few good Muslim friends I have and who have wished me Diwali before most of my Hindu friends did and even brought "ghar ki mithai" for me on Diwali. I stress on diwali because that is a Hindu festival, there are many Muslims who treat me on Id but refrain from sharing my joys on our festivals- that is a breed we will talk about in some other blog.
Why do we single out all the people belonging to that religion, agreed that most of the mischief mongers belong to that particular one but not all are the same.
If we look at the reason behind this, we will see the lack of education, their gullibility to be easily mislead into doing something in the name of religion. The places where they are raised, the teachings that have been forced down their throats, the constant atmosphere of hatred and hardships that they have dwelved in. How can we then blame the poor innocent baby born in such a condition. He was just dragged out of his poverty and force fed with the belief that not even the Quran enlists. He who read more books on jehad than the holy Quran, why should he be held as the representative of the teachings of prophet.
There is fear amongst us because of the deeds of those who know nothing of the God Almighty and worship the Satan. Because of that fear, we hate those who are not even remotely involved in any such act. We despise those who might have been despising the terrosist attacks more than us.
We hate them, we leave them alone and ultimately we force them into such a dark area from where the only emotion they have left in them is the fear and hatred for us.
Maybe this is high time we realised that the fellow working with you who happens to be a Muslim is not an extremist. Maybe that taxi driver is as much patriotic as you are, maybe even more.
Maybe it is high time that we realise that the guy we know, the one with a white skull cap who prays with his hands open is a human after all.

Unnecessary Intervention

When I start writing this one (I have already done that), I am sure I will not be sure about the day I last posted on this blog. Almost a year maybe, not my fault though since nothing unusual had happened in the political scenario.
AAP winning with a heavy majority wasn’t unusual either, a 25 year old; I have closely observed the sudden shocks given by the people in elections for past 11 years. BJP losing out and unnecessary walk outs out of the parliament are usual too. The land acquisition bill; I would request someone to come and kindly explain it to me, I do not want opinions. I seriously want to know what makes the bill anti-farmer.
The sudden awakening of His Highness RaGa did surprise me but I was left wondering if it was some plastically surgeoned clone of him. I never really expected him to do what he has been doing post his political sabbatical!
Again, that day (some day I do not remember) I was asked to pose for a Green-Peace picture holding a placard that I support green energy. Sorry but even though I had been following Green Peace closely, the only thing that struck me when asked about it was,” The spelling of Green Peas has been written as Green Peace in the menu of the paratha shop”
Then there is this weekly column from Sitaram Yechhury condemning the Prime Minister and BJP about things I clearly do not understand. If he wore a suit costing Rs 10 lacs, let him have the luxury of it at least once, he is the Prime Minister after all. Some days you have to be in the show off mode too, you cannot really be the usual you when you meet Uncle Sam.
And this brings us pretty close to what I was actually found intriguing enough that it compelled me to write, an RTI has been filed by Mr. Anil G…. asking about the expenditure incurred during Obama’s visit. The Centre has refused to share the information and opposition has for obvious reasons gone crazy. Seriously, now this was the last thing that should have been discussed in a country marred with rapes and super holy ministers seeing God’s will in it.
The reason from the Government is equally hilarious, “it will affect bilateral ties.” Seriously, you didn't have a better reason to give?
BJP should understand that no stone will be left unturned to mar its image; their careless response will only damage their image. There are better ways to solve issues and they practice them instead. Not courting a controversy is something that has been vehemently opposed for them and hence they need to be super cautious with their statements and acts.
Also, people should understand that they have a responsibility if they have been given the right to file an RTI query. They should simply not waste it on petty issues.
I wonder why none has till date asked the method to calculate the BPL income or the People below poverty line data for that matter; Why no enquiry is set up to get the police records of people filing for candidature; Why the environmental report for understanding the harm caused due to dam construction is never asked; Why no one has asked for the data of rapes to analyze which are the most affected areas?
But, why should we do that, we might be asked to take an action in that regard right! While, all we want is few minutes of fame that comes with allegedly defaming a government and creating controversies.
And yeah, there are some more things that we do and they are signing online petitions, re-sharing posts, changing profile pictures and maybe some time participate in candle light march too. A lot it is isn’t it!
Amazing people we are and then we get amazed by those selected from amongst us!
